The Role
Very enjoyable. Learnt a lot and am glad I got a chance to work in the organisation.
My team were fantastic and gave me all the support I needed
Couldn't have asked for more. Managed to spend time with people from all over the bank of all ranks.
I originally thought I had a lot of work to do, but it was only inexperience holding me back. As time went on, I got less and less busy as I was completing projects quicker than expected
I was given just the right amount of responsibility as an intern. At first I worked in a small group and was given bit-part roles but at the end I was essentially running my own project.
Despite my course being aligned to the industry, there wasn't much of an opportunity to display skills that I had learnt at university. However, moving forward, I will use my enhanced organisational skills to assist me in my learning
The Company
Everyone was friendly and sociable, which was very pleasant
The internship was organised very well, with an abundance of events - both networking and leisure - to keep you busy.
There were weekly training sessions from teams from all over the department. Furthermore, there were speeches from senior managers, which was insightful and made you feel as if you were valued.
Company Parties/Events
Fingers crossed for a job. It is apparently a non-competitive internship (not sure how much truth there is in that) so it's your own skills that matter, so you only need to focus on doing as best you can and not doing that at the expense of fellow interns, making the atmosphere a lot more pleasant
The Culture
Everyone was very sociable; the interns would get together at least once a week and my work colleagues occasionally went out together
Central London
Central London nightlife is very expensive but can be good
There weren't that many opportunities that I found to get involved in that were organised by work.
