The Role
The team I was in was excellent and were easy to get on with. I had the oppurtunity to meet many great people.
I felt I was valued greatly by my colleagues. This includes both for the work I produced being meaningful to them, but also being invited to team social events.
I was expected to work through the work myself but when and if i needed support or guidance it was avaliable for me. The majority of people within the company are happy to help you should you need it.
I always had work to complete and there was always extra work avaliable. The key was to just ask for more work should you need any
I was given a fair amount of responsibility considering the placement only being for 10 weeks.
The skills/training gained during my time will help me both for my university studies but also after. Many of the skills I have developed will be applicable both within and outside of the company. Through the formal review process all interns undertake I have gained an insight into which areas I can improve my skills going forward.
The Company
There was always a good atmosphere and it never seemed a chore to be having to go to work.
The internship was well organised throughout. Both my managers rang me the week before I started and i had no issues with the organisation thoughout.
There were a number of events held for the development of interns including inductions and functional insights. Any additional training I wished to do was allowed. This is usually the case if you can find a benefit to the business.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
There are a number of graduate roles avaliable and I would be more than happy to return to the company should they allow it.
The Culture
Many of the students lived together in university halls so there was a fairly good social scene.
Accommadation at halls was fairly cheap and Derby its self is a cheap place to live.
It isnt amazing but there are a number of good citys within easy traveling distance.
There is plenty of things to do round about derby particularly within the peaks. The sports centre at work also means there is access to 5 a side/ tennis/ squash courts at very reasonable prices.
