The Role
The work placement has been a wonderful experience and I have enjoyed working within Centrica Renewables. The work has been challenging and I have had plenty of work to do which has added value to the team.
My immediate team, Public Affairs, value me very highly and we have an excellent working relationship.
My manager was very helpful and worked through things with me whenever I needed it. I have gained a great deal from the experience of my managers.
The workload varied highly. The times when I was busy were very exciting. Sometimes the paced slowed a little and I didn't have a great deal of work.
I personally managed two large projects for the team, which will add great deal of value to the department. These projects gave me large amounts of responsibility. I have also taken over a lot of my managers work whilst he was away on holiday, again giving me even more responsibility.
I have improved many skills at Centrica including delivering results, adapting to change and learning and sharing knowledge. These will assist me during my degree and beyond.
The Company
The office is very professional and very friendly. The technical nature of the work can mean it is quiet at times.
Great organisation. My manager organised my placement really well and gave me lots of responsibility.
My managers have invested lots of time and effort into my development. The wider company haven't invested in my personal training and development.

The energy sector is an exciting industry and renewables is a grwoing sector. Centrica would be an appealing option for work in the future. I believe I could develop my skills at Centrica and would be rewarded with responsibility.
The Culture
There was a good social scene. All interns lived together which provided a good atmosphere and people to socialise with.
The location of our accommodation was not ideal. A half an hour walk from Egham and only close to a small village. Without a car it is difficult to get anywhere and if people hadn't had cars travel into work would have been very expensive. There were not many local amenities close to the accomodation, living could prove expensive. For socialing there were a few pubs only.
Windsor is a quiet small town, but has nice bars and is good for socialising. London isn't far on the train.
The location of the accommodation made it difficult to get involved with things outside of work. I did play for the Centrica Renewables 5-a-side team.
