    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enhanced university knowledge with the opportunity to try a variety of different challenges as well as being entrusted with some responsibility.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Trust is in place to assume that you'll do the work you're expected to do and work is fairly distributed. The colleagues around you are all a really friendly bunch and definitely someone to socialise with on evenings and weekends as the majority of the company is reasonably young.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Monthly catchup meetings to review progress.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Varying from week to week and does increase around project time.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • If responsible enough, able to help teach customers like graduates would. Entrusted to deliver work and given responsibility for this but obviously the majority of the responsibility was given to the more experienced staff i.e. supervisors etc.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Presentation skills, troubleshooting skills, engineering knowledge, project management, communication skills etc.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Expected to get work done, but casual atmosphere and everyone's friendly.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Day to day job, but also specific intern organised activities.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 8 weeks full training at the beginning, weekly internal training and even presentation skills class.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Almost like a year's interview, so if you show promise it's likely they'll take you back.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Evenings out, meals. film nights etc.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Nearly £5 per pint in some places. Rent is high but otherwise affordable.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good due to a good group of people out. Not the best choice in bars/clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Evenings at the gym. Nights out together. Work events such as bowling, scavenger hunt etc.
