    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility as a placement student and everyone was always very friendly and helpful.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team were always happy to help when I needed it and valued the work I did.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had regular one to one meetings with my manager which were focussed solely around my development. I had objectives to work towards which were regularly reviewed. Also had several informal catch up sessions in the week to check I was ok. I never felt like I couldn't approach my manager if I had an issue.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had something to do although there were definately busy and quiet periods. However this goes with the nature of the job and was experienced by all.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I felt like I was given a lot of responsibility and this increased as my placement year went along. Compared to other placement schemes TUI definately give you a lot of responsibility and you are treated as an equal member of the team with an equal workload. I regularly made decisions on my own and my manager was happy for me to do this.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed many skills whilst doing my role such as numerical analysis, commercial acumen and time management.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very relaxed and friendly with a lot of charity based events.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We had a three week induction period and handover with the former placement student which allowed us to gain a good understanding of the organisation from the start and also have a lot of time shadowing. Recruitment process was very quick and efficient with good level of communication.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had very little training and development outside of my job role during my placement year. However this was only an issue for this year and future placement students are likely to receive a lot more.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    International Travel

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate scheme is appealing and a retention management policy is being put in place to communicate vacancies at TUI to placement students.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were team nights out monthly which people take in turns to organise.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted and lived at home however the cost of living and socialising in Luton is very cheap compared to other areas in the South East

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Luton is a university town however a lot of people visited other areas such as St Albans or caught the train to London for a night out.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are various sporting activities to get involved in such as football or cricket if interested
