The Role
Lots of variety and very interesting work. The people are great and very welcoming too.
There is a great atmosphere in the office and everyone is very open and friendly. As interns, we are given lots of responsibility and treated as any other full time member of staff.
Supervisors are keen to ensure that everything is OK and that the work undertaken is appropriate and that we are not struggling too much.
Quite busy on some days, less so on others, but overall the workload was about right. Some days did get extremely busy and pushed other work back, but this was rare.
I was given opportunities to take charge of projects and work on proof of concept work that enabled me to become the 'go to' person for a particular topic in the office.
I learnt valuable skills that will be extremely beneficial to me in later life and for the rest of my studies. I certainly would advise other people considering taking a placement year to do so.
The Company
Everyone is happy to have a laugh along side getting the work done. Everyone is very welcoming and approachable.
Day to day work is largely self guided and self organised, but there is a clear main structure to all work undertaken and procedures in place to ensure that work is evenly distributed.
Loads of role-specific training and lots of time spent on soft skills throughout the year. Giving training to others was also a good part of the learning experience.
Sports and Social Club
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I would like to apply for a permanent place after completing my studies.
The Culture
Lots of socialising - not just with students/interns, but with full time staff also.
I didn't live near to work, but the area I do live in is very expensive. Socialising at work is not too expensive - I'm used to paying more.
Not really my 'scene', but I have been out a few times over the year and enjoyed myself.
Pretty much every other day there is something going on.
