The Role
Really enjoyed the work, the initial training could have been included an introduction to KPMG's online interface but you catch up on the job really quickly.
Opinions and contributions helped to shape the product for our client from the first week.
The team I was working on project with were very supportive and I felt myself growing in confidence. Some better guidance, in terms of a schedule of intern meetings, would have been useful. Also an more organised socials would have been warmly recieved, only one at the initial training.
Was unusually busy for an intern.
Was required to contribute considerably but not to the point it was overly stressful.
Organisational skills were genuinely honed. Confidence also grew considerably.
The Company
The Birmingham office, which I was working out of, was much more relaxed than Canada Square my base office I applied to.
Communication was fairly poor. Needed more support initially due to booking expensive hotels and transport without any training how to through KPMG system.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Healthcare from home
Awaiting to hear back for a graduate role.
The Culture
Thought there could be a more structured approach from KPMG. For example went to the pub after CSR day, thought KPMG could pay for first drinks.
London is expensive.
Birmingham wasn't great, London was good.
CSR day.
