The Role
I really liked it and would definitely recommend it to anyone that is interested in finance. There are some many niche departments within a bank that you can only explore once you are here. Senior people were very keen to make time to speak to interns- which is something truly unique and not very common in other banks.
My colleagues really trusted me and gave me very important work to do- equivalent to senior analyst level. They also valued my opinion and were happy to answer question in detail to give me deep understanding about the work I was doing.
Absolutely fabulous MD. We had weekly catch up chats even though he was running the whole emerging markets region and was out the office most of the time! The VP I was working for, was very responsive to all my questions, keen to help me learn and great for introducing me to other people.
Very volatile, there were weeks where work was exploding and the odd week were it was quiter but by no means boring. It was the perfect opportunity to catch up on some relevant background reading and network with other employees.
I was on a lot of deals, actually working on very important databases that were integral to the pricing of the deals. As well as putting together whole pitchbooks. I was also in charge of the bi-weekly market updates for the CEECEA region.
The skills I developed are fully transferable. I learned how to be efficient and manage my time better. As well as being diligent and thoroughly check work, ensuring its accurate 100% of the time. As well as how important nurturing relationships are for future development.
The Company
Professional and supportive.
Great- the public lectures were particularly engaging and insightful. We got good exposure to senior people via networking events
We had one week of training prior to start as well as ongoing product training seminars. Very useful indeed!
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Will love to join them on the grad programme!
The Culture
It was ok but interns had other priorities like securing an offer so there was always the opportunity cost of time consideration
London- pretty expensive in general.
Not too much sampling, shopping was good!
Yes, providing you have the time and energy!
