    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very good experience in a wide range of engineering principles and tsaks. Allowed me considerable responsibility and the chance to broaden my skill set and experience a wide range of engineering. Offered the chance to get hands on experience and work within teams and be involved in 6 sigma projects that were very beneficial.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt highly valued by my department and the people that i worked with closely. However, on occasion when dealing with people from around the world, including customers and suppliers, being a placement student hinders the communication process.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Supervisor gave the opportunity for me to be involved in a considerable amount of tasks, and provided me with a lot of responsibility. Manager and supervisor together were brilliant to learn from, and provided me with the necessary support whenever it was needed. This felt like valued support, and i was not spoon fed. I was allowed to learn myself and take charge of my own tasks.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The majority of the time i was considerably busy. From January to June was hectic with working on a design project, whilst also juggling day to day jobs and smaller tasks. Completing the majority of this project allowed for a little more spare time.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given considerable responsibility. I was the design lead for a new design six sigma project, and forged direct communication links with suppliers and joint ventures that i worked with frequently. A lot of work was passed down to me, and i also made contact with many different people around the world and within the company regarding work matters.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have obtained considerable experience and skills that i did not have prior to a placement, and i appreciate this year a lot.
