    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • I had a really good time, and not only enjoyed the socials and events out of work but also enjoyed the time working on some projects.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • There are always events going on after work, so you get a chance to talk to people outside the workplace and make friends.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • They were always there to answer any questions I had or give me any tips.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • There were some days when one task would take up the whole day so I would be kept busy throughout, but there were some when you had smaller tasks and wouldnt have as much to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • Sometimes it was assumed that I knew more than I did because they had previously had industrial placement students who spent a lot more time here and were more experieced, however there was always an opportunity for me to explain what I could or couldn't do and help was always offered.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • A lot of the skills I developed, particulary my people skills, will continue to help me through my professional career. I also became a lot more familiar with some of the programming that was used within the company.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • We hot-desked rather than eveyrone having their individual desks, so you were able to sit next to someone you hadnt met. It was all open plan and really friendly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • We had a work-shadowing day with a partner organised for us, and each put onto different projects with differnt clients.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • During the internship we could complete some web-based learning, however there was no other training avaialable

    • After receiving very positive feedback from the people I've worked with I would hope to say my future employment prospects with EY were quite high

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • Not only did other interns organise events for us, but also the company itself.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • London is very expensive, I lived at home so avoided high rent costs - particularly during the olympics! Lunch/drinks are expensive, but you can always find a voucher online for 2for1s or 25% off your bill etc..

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • London is one of the best cities for Nightlife, with some of the best clubs and bars.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • There were a lot of events organised outside of work, and we were also informed on many of the charity opportunities the organistion offered.
