The Role
The work was very interesting and challenging. There were many students also doing the placement so the social element was very good (and some of this Detica paid for).
I felt well valued by my colleagues, although my project was an individual project they were still very helpful and supportive.
I had a few different managers involved in my project and they all were very supportive and knowledgeable of the business area.
There was a lot of work assigned throughout the placement, however it always came with the understanding that it may not all be possible in the 10 week duration.
I was given an important task and was able to present it to two different important clients.
While the work wasn't directly related to my degree course that was my choice, but I gained an insight into the business area and developed many skills along the way.
The Company
The office has a very positive atmosphere, with many free socials to improve the morale of the employees.
Organisation was good overall, while it was a little organised in parts it is expected due to the process of having to gain security clearance which most other companies do not have to do.
There are many courses available to develop a wide range of skills, with the company being very supportive of new skills you want to learn.
Flexi Time

There are many graduate jobs available at the company and the interns are reviewed shortly after the internship to determine if they are offered a job.
The Culture
Yes there was a good social scene with a lot of it being paid for by the company.
My placement for the company was in Southwark London, so it always going to be expensive but the company also has placements in Guildford and Gloucester which are somewhat cheaper.
It London so there plenty of opportunities around.
Yes there are some opportunities, however some of these not really possible over a 10 week placement.
