The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement for one of many reasons. As well as working on a project that is making a real difference, the work has been both challenging and rewarding. I have learnt many new skills which I hope to take with me in any future placements/internships/jobs.
Due to the nature and responsibility of my work I was constantly in discussion and working with seniors and analysts, so I was valued greatly by my colleagues. They particularly praised me often for the work that I had done which is always nice and kept me motivated throughout.
I have received immense support from all areas of the business. Whether the help I needed was related to my work, career, or HR, the information was always just a phone call away. Everyone is very helpful and always willing to lend a hand which is something unique at Detica compared to other places that I have previously worked at.
Having to produce results frequently meant that I was always kept busy and occupied with work. Nevertheless there was always time for laughs and jokes while working.
An incredible amount again because of the nature of the project.
This placement has given me a good outlook of what to expect in the future when working, which is something that will help greatly when deciding which career opportunities I will aim to pursue. The skills I have developed and knowledge I have gained will help me not only at university but generally in all aspects of life.
The Company
The perfect atmosphere to work hard whilst feeling like your heads not about to explode.
Very well organised. The application process was very straightforward. The two stage interview was well conducted and there was good communication throughout the application process between myself and HR. The induction was very informative and then the work placement itself for me was very structured and consistent.
The company itself invests a great deal into every employee as is a wide array of courses that you can undergo, stationery available whenever you need etc. Everything is available and there is always support but this will really depend upon what you need. For myself, whenever I have needed something it’s always been there.

Very appealing due to the fact that I have enjoyed working here a lot and I have done some great work. I look forward to applying in the future
The Culture
Yes, from the first day I met many interns and since then we have always been in contact. We frequently went out and partook in group social activities which were very enjoyable.
Although I was based in London my work was primarily at Guildford so I was there for most of my placement. The travel costs were expensed due to the fact that my base location was in London so overall all was good. As for socialising in the area it was roughly the same for both. - More opportunities in London but dependant upon what you do.
As you would expect in London.
Plenty of opportunities. I played football regularly and also went out with other interns.
