The Role
I enjoyed the atmosphere in NATS, everyone is always willing to help and there is a great working ethos.
I always felt valued by almost all of the people I worked with.
The support NATS provides is great and I really valued the fact that managers recognised that placement students were there to learn as well as work.
The balance of work was jsut about right although there were some dry spots that I could have filled myself.
I was routinely asked to complete work on my own with little supervision, with the work having a large bearing on the future of some projects.
I developed a lot of soft skills from this job as well as engineering skills. They are all very valuable to me!
The Company
The atmosphere at NATS is great. Everyone is really helpful and the open plan office helps you to interact with colleagues more.
The organisation of the placement scheme was very good this year although there were one or two rough spots.
The company trained me like I was a regular employee staying on for life! I got external training courses that helped me perform my role as well as a comprehensive package of training into all aspects of the company as part of the placement scheme.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Future prospects for employment are quite competetive however the ratio for candidates:places is much better than the open market!
The Culture
There were plenty of opportunities for placement students to socialise amongst themselves.
The south coast is a fairly expensive place to live but it was no worse than some other towns/cities.
As long as you go to Southampton or Portsmouth you will be fine.
There were lots of opportunities for external activities, some provided by the sports and social club and some by members of the placment scheme.
