The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my 6 weeks. Learns so much and met some amazing people in and out of the office and networking events, on the induction, CSR day and at the final dinner.
Always felt part of a strong team and the more I got to know my colleagues the more values I felt as they gave me more responsibility.
Had regular meetings with my counsellor. She was always available between them as well if I had any questions and willing to help. Also had my buddy who was sat opposite me so never too far away!
Had work on the majority of the time. Had to take responsibility over my own work load though meaning I had to seek work myself a lot of the time and approach others. I couldn't wait for people to always come to me with work.
The more enthusiastic and keen I showed myself the more responsibility I got. It was often possible for me to volunteer for certain tasks as well which gave me more responsibility.
Extremely useful skills gained for my future career whatever I go into. Learnt an immense amount about working in an office environment, how to communicate effectively with clients/colleagues, how to manage my time and much more.
The Company
Fantastic atmosphere. Very young office as well making it more relaxed too. Often went for drinks after work with interns and colleagues. Everyone was very welcoming and patient to take time to explain things to me.
Very well organised. Induction at the start of the internship with 130 others where we were all put up in a hotel was very well organised with structures days filled with activities. We were always kept well informed on any upcoming events and proper arrangements were always made.
I felt a lot of the resources were there for me but it was often up to me to utilise them and find things out. Induction did not offer much technical training as such. More general information.
Company Parties/Events
I have been offered a job and am delighted with the offer.
The Culture
Went for lunch most days with the other interns in the offer. Often went out after work too. At the end of my time in several departments, the team also took me out for lunch which was really nice.
Lived at home. Cost of parking approximately £4 a day. Lunch approximately £3 a day.
Nightlife in Manchester is great although didn't really experience it on the internship.
Wasn't really relevant to me but I know some of the other interns took part in netball/cricket matches.
