The Role
Work was very relevant to my degree, technical but not overwhelming.
Very quiet office, but if you had questions they were always on hand to answer questions.
Manager and supervisor were always around to help and would happily take some time out to explain things and give feedback.
Comes and goes, some days very busy when coming up to deadlines, working longer hours, other days not so productive, as expected.
The project I worked on wasnt needed immediately for any bigger projects however will become useful on certain occasions and felt worthwhile.
Definitely learnt a lot, not just techinically but also general industry experience and how such a lrage company operates. Nice change from university.
The Company
Fairly quiet office, but the people were very friendly and happy to have a general chat.
Overall excellent, however, some of the events were in Derby even though I was placed in Bristol.
Lots of courses available through HR, although not really applicable for summer interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Pretty much garaunteed a job as long as you have impressed on your placement and not messed up completely.
The Culture
More social events in Derby, but still a lot in Bristol. Many trips to pubs and clubs as well as football and badminton. Special events such as sky diving and go karting.
Relatively cheap but depends on what you are used to and where you decide on living.
Great night life in Bristol, plenty of pubs and clubs!
Plenty of activities, and if none take your fancy you are encouraged to organise it yourself.
