The Role
The work I was given was very engaging and stimulating, and it required a lot of independence, which is definitely a plus. I wish the environment had been a bit more fast-paced though.
Everyone was very helpful and what I produced is now in place. Colleagues were really happy about my progress.
The placement required a great deal of initiative and I was very much left to myself, which can be stimulating. At times it could however be useful to have more guidance.
I was as busy as I made myself. I was given a very general project and I designed the whole thing according to what I felt was better. I did not have strict objectives set by my manager, so I was just as busy as I wanted.
I was asked to produce a system that would solve some current problems and then carry out the roll-out. The system is currently in use on a weekly basis.
I improved my presentation skills and my time management skills. I also pushed myself to learn new things and I have become a lot more IT proficient.
The Company
My office was very loud and not the best working environment. There is a general relaxed feeling which I do not particularly enjoy. It is quite frequent to see people do very little in a day or just chat with colleagues.
The placement was well organised but some of us were less lucky than others as we were placed in smaller offices, where there is no previous experience of summer placements.
The company always provided me with the resources I needed.
National Travel
I have a job offer but I am unsure whether I will take it. If I do, I would like to be in a different office.
The Culture
There were only 4 of us where I was located.
Because I was placed in the North, life is quite cheap. The greatest thing was free accommodation provided by the Company.
