The Role
The Spring Insight was extremely beneficial for me as I am a student interested in the financial sector who comes from an Engineering background. The week has an adequate mix of presentations, exercises, challenges which I thoroughly enjoyed as I constantly improved my knowledge and got to know my fellow interns. However, the best part was that even though we had multiple sessions focused on the specific area of interest, we also had common activities with all of the other areas. Therefore, I managed to get a complete understanding of the entire firm.
I appreciate the quality of the selected interns as being at the very top. We all worked together towards achieving our goals successfully. However, when you get the best 50 minds in a room, all coming from different cultures and disciplines and most importantly you ask them to compete for your attention, some clashes will occur due to the competitive nature all of us had. The important thing is that in the end, we all made friends across cities and borders; these friendships are here to last.
We have been guided all along, especially in such a way that we could always find the answers on our own. I found that to be the highest degree of mentoring one can achieve.
Having just 5 days on our hands to learn as much as possible and make our selves remarked, I believe 9/10 hours a day were the best schedule we could have. I planned the trip ahead of time so that I had 3 extra days to visit my friends in London and obviously no negative comments were made on the discount of the tickets. I recommend you take 3 days before the week for old friends and 3 days after it for the new ones.
It wasn't a full size internship, however we had to give a sales pitch, presentations, find solutions to innovation games all in front of senior managers. The final presentation we had to prepare was rather serious and gave you all the space to show what you are made of. I believe the chance is there if you are able to take it.
The skills a bank needs are somewhat neglected in an engineering course. All the soft skills I developed with BoA allowed me to become a performer in life and then in my course because it made me aware of the world in which the engineering industry has to play.
The Company
There was no office. There were many, with many interns, HR support together with Year Interns and Senior Managers.
Great mix of activities, great time balance, great accommodation, perfect selection of people.
They went all the way. I cannot really think of something I could argue against them.

If it wasn't for the very long hours which lies in the very nature of banking, I would leave engineering for it. It's a tough call, I may leave the business people to do business...or I may go and challenge them. It's not yet settled.
The Culture
The organised parties, lunches and breakes were a great opportunity to relax, have fun and gather some info.
London is expensive, however BoA paid for most of the requirements so that my wallet didn't really feel the threat.
Sleep was great.
I would say that didn't really apply. I did plan an extra holiday before the 5 days...but during the 5 days that was the main focus.
