The Role
Prior to starting my internship with Centrica, I had previously finished a yearlong placement with the Co-op. And although I enjoyed my placement with the Co-op, this was far more enjoyable!
I felt very valued by my colleagues, who would often come to me for my opinion/input on projects. I also would socialise with many of them outside of the workplace.
My manager was excellent! Really enthusiastic and helped my development everyday!
I had an excellent balance where I had enough work to keep me busy, but also had the time to engage with other people around the business to learn more about it.
I was given a vast amount of responsibility througout my internship and was given ownership of 3 big projects.
I have learnt that I engage well with different people around the business and also have some great ideas, however, sometimes I need to refine these into business ready solutions, which is something I am keen to develop
The Company
I enjoyed a great, friendly atmosphere. As we 'hot desk' I was rarely sat with the same people everyday, but this has given me a great opportunity to meet and speak with different people.
There were elements that could be improved, however, in general, it was very well organised.
The company invested quite heavily in my development, both in terms of paid training courses and business trips as well as people investing their time in my personal development.

Working from home
I have been put through to the final interview, which if I am succesful, I will get a place on the 2013 graduate scheme. This would be a great position to be in as it would mean I can go into my final year of university with a guaranteed job offer for when I've finished.
The Culture
We were provided with paid for accomodation at a local university. This created an excellent soical environment and I feel as I have made some very good friends who I will stay in contact with once my placement is over.
As the internship is close to London, the cost is relatively high compared to what I'm used to. However, as our accomodation was paid for, this softened the blow somewhar,
I was living in Uxbridge, which wasn't great. However, it was possible to get into London quite easily.
Yes, I have enjoyed various activites outside of work during my time here. This has included football, bowling and go-karting!
