The Role
I enjoyed the friendly and interacting atmosphere from all on the team and from the fellow interns. The work was challenging, but rewarding and i added real value to the business during my time here.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues! Many said that i now felt like part of the furniture and that it would be a shame to see me go! They also believed that i was a real part of the team contributing to the workload and helping change things in the business
My manager/supervisor was always on hand throughout the day to assist me with any questions i had and constantly guided me by showing me more efficient ways to complete tasks. He also gave me support by integrating me into the social activities of the team inviting me to team drinks and lunches.
Some days were quiet understandably due to the time of year and the fact that many members of staff were on holiday meaning that my supervisor could be stretched at times. However, throughout i have always had something to do that is centered around the business if not work for the team, then extra curricular courses which have really helped boost my knowledge of financial markets.
I was not granted access to some core systems but that was to be expected given the nature of the business they operate and recent compliance issues in the sector. However, this was worked around by me writing the code/doc and then sending to my supervisor to implement into the system.
The training i received during the 8 weeks was second to none. I have developed a greater understanding of the financial sector and also learnt new IT skills that will make my life easier in future. It will assist me for my degree because now i know that business needs so much more than just a good degree. It needs a person to respond well and adapt to changing circumstances in the office.
The Company
Being in front office IT was great as there is always the hustle and bustle of the trade floor around you. Never a dull moment!
The organisation of the placement was brilliant. Credit has to go to the grad team at RBC as they are the best operation i experienced during the application process, interviews and reviews during the placement have been a pleasure. The staff in the team are approachable and friendly and always have a smile on their faces.
The company has invested a lot of resources and time in the interns. This makes me feel like i am a valued member of the team and that they want to see me develop into a better worker for the future and this is a nice feeling to have.

Company Parties/Events
I would love to come back and work for RBC CM on a long term basis! I just hope that I've done enough for them to want me back!
The Culture
All colleagues were very sociable, drinks and meals were organised and the grad team ensured that we mingled with events that mixed us into groups that we would not know about.
London is expensive and that's all i can say :P
ITS LONDON BABY!!!!
Social events were planned by grads and teams and opportunity was given for activity outside working hours.
