The Role
Learnt an enormous amount and colleagues were very willing to teach.
Little or no scope to contribute to the company in a meaningful way - whilst I was on a trading desk, I do see scope for some sort of 'project' to exist, allowing interns to learn and add value.
My 'mentor' was not very interested, but other members of the team were pleased to help me learn, and aided me in seeking experience beyond the desk.
Some days the desk was very quiet, and lack of a 'project' meant it wasn't busy. However, I could supplement learning with access to an online training package.
Was able to submit the daily P&L from week 6-8.
Was able to learn a lot, which will greatly enhance my CV and confidence in applying for future positions.
The Company
Friendly and lively, teams were content and everyone approachable.
Lack of any kind of social activity was a shame.
Firm has investment considerable time and money in its interns - they should try harder to measure our performance.
Appealing, in the right role.
