The Role
I enjoyed the internship more than expected. The work was challenging, and gave a great insight into the industry.
My colleagues valued good work, they were always polite and I felt as though my work was appreciated.
There were always good analysts I could approach with any question. I'd even met more senior staff, Director and MD level that were approachable and would give higher level guidance. My Developement officer and Buddy were very supportive.
Initially work flow could be patchy, over the summer work is quieter and often at an intern level you'll be given smaller projects to prove yourself before being thrown in at the deep end.
Responsibility increased gradually once I had proved myself with the easier work. By the end I had built my own model for a project in CorpFin.
Much of the formal training will be useful in my Principles of Finance course next year. Then on a more informal basis, a lot of the finer office etiquette will be useful.
The Company
Analysts organised drinks every week, and in the evenings after the senior empplyees left the office became a lot more lively.
Graduate recruitment have done a great job in ensuring most things have gone smoothly.
We had a dedicated week of training. I appreciated being sent to Bloomberg and Factset for training directly by the service operators.

The Culture
Very social, we'd go out at least once a week.
Central london is very expensive, you get what you pay for.
Great location. Some of the best night spots are within a 20 minute walk, or a quick taxi ride.
In the first week we had a day of outdoor charity work. And in the first week, we had training around the city.
