The Role
My team is very supportive and we have weekly educational session to help us gain insight to others teams in the bank. It is very helpful as I can learn skills in my team, and at the same time knowing the whole organization.
They respect me a lot, and always willing to help me. Whenever I have questions, they will set aside their time to help me through it. And they value my idea in the working and ask me to continue work out my proposals.
They have provided tremendous support for me. In my job, they are willing to provide advice and feedback and also helped me a lot to prepare the final presentation. They organized a rehearsal for me and taught me a lot.
Based on the projects. Daily job is not that heavy. Project is working in my own pace. Sometimes time was spent waiting for the response from other people, therefore would be free for a while. But once received the feedback and updated director about the project or got any advice on amendments, would be filled for the rest of the day to finish the job as soon as possible.
I didn't expect that I would manage a project on my own. Like I am now taking full responbility of the development of a website, which is for all our internal clients. I proposed my own ideas and liased with IT team in Zurich to work them out. I was leading the project after one of my team left.
I learnt and improved a lot during the internship. In how to plan projects to prioritize the tasks and track my progress, in how to efficiently communicated with other teams and how to get timely feedback. I think they would be useful through my career.
The Company
It is very comfortable. We have summer social and people encouraged me on my final presentation. But most our conversation is based on jobs, mostly professional content. Not so much causal small chats, I think I may need more time to extend the relationship with them. 10 weeks are indeed short.
It is well organized. We have weekly educational sessions to help us know the other teams in Ops in the bank. And we have shoreditch games and other opportunities to understand the companies' involvement in Community. And my team has set up 5 objetives for me before I joined, which are quite clear and directs me through my job. I also met lots of other interns and learnt a lot from them. And the welcome and farewell meeting and also theatre trip, we have been give lots of chance to know people outside our own division.
We met the CEO of the bank, We listened to the best analyst in the bank reviewing the current economic environment. And also female intern event, we met outside successful career women and lots of ED and MD from our bank. So I would say the company invested a lot on each of us. organized this training and cared about our interns.
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
I have just finished my final presentation. Up to now I have not got any clue about their decision in me. So I cannot tell about the result. But I think my presentation went very well and I was confident in the room. I believe I have good chance to get the job.
The Culture
Yes indeed. The interns are very outstanding. They organized lectures with graduates outside investment banking to help us explore more career possibilities. And We went to bar after work and in weekends. It is enjoyable to know them and develop relationship with them.
Well I live in London, which is one of the most expensive city in the world. So the cost of living is quite high because of the rent and transportation cost. and to have a nice dinner in a nice restaurant is also costly for me. But we received high salary, so I could say it is balanced.
I know my colleagues will go to play football after work. And we have plans sometime to go to a bar together to celebrate some events, maybe birthday or finishing the presentation. So the life is quite enriched.
We have shoreditch games, and we have time for job shadowing. and Our team also offer volunteering opportunities. So there are a lot of opportunities to get invoved outside of work. and i also attended a group theatre trip, watching Lion King. It was quite pleasant and we enjoyed discount on the tickets. I enjoyed all of these.
