The Role
Spent a really productive summer at a firm which made me feel useful and proactive
Colleagues were happy to offer their time to help and actually went out of their ways to arrange sessions to update us on company affairs, and their role
My manager was really supportive although I feel he could have offered more time and sometimes fobbed off my questions to other people
Sometimes I found myself without things to do however I followed my own agenda at these times and proactively found other activities to further my progress whilst at the firm
Due to the nature of my work I could not be given great responsibility however I did take responsibility in other areas
Whilst the skills that I developed at GT do not relate to my degree at University they were absolutely invaluable lessons that I will treasure for the rest of my life
The Company
The team I was in was related to tax and whilst tax is not a particularly thrilling activity the team members were very fun
Organised fantastically. The perfect balance is firm between organised activities and allowing us to set our own agendas
We had at least one training session a week on different areas of the business and other life skills
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Unfortunately due to extreme competition, I didn't have a job offer but I'm optimistic about applying in the future and received a fantastic reference.
The Culture
Other interns took themselves a little bit too seriously at times
Based in London so very expensive
You can do you want to do in London and a bad reputation can't follow you
There were opportunities for social events and Charity events
