The Role
Days varied from being overloaded with work to those which were quite uneventful. The department I worked in was extremely interesting and I didn't know that it existed. I got on well with my line manager and improved my knowledge regading the balance sheet and income statement.
People were extremely friendly and there was a great atmosphere within the workplace. I enjoyed coming into work to see them and work along with them. There were those that offered to show me their work and give me an insight into their department.
I was guided to a certain extent and I am sure the idea was to push myself. However, given that I was new to the floor and had no experience in Finance I found it difficult to find work. Even though I constantly requested work, it was expected that I do easier stuff and take a while to complete it.
As previously mentioned, the days varied. The work I was given also varied in terms of how interesting it was.
I don't feel that I was given that much responsibility during my time and I would have liked to have been put under more pressure. The lack of responsibility meant that I did not work as hard as I could have and made me feel that I was there to do more remedial work.
I wouldn't say that I have learnt new skills, however, it allowed me to cement the skills I already have and demonstrate to myself that I could manage working there.
The Company
Really great. Thoroughly enjoyed coming into work. People were very friendly and made you feel really welcome.
Organisation was the main thing that was lacking in the internship. I feel that if it had been better organised, the manager & I could have gained a lot more from the experience.
It's hard to answer this question given that I only worked there for 10 weeks. I would definitely say that they could have pushed harder in terms of training. I was tasked to learn a lot of things on my own through the internet which I could have done at home. This took away from the internship experience.

There are opportunities within the firm and it really depends on one's career aspirations. There are certain qualifications they only provide such as CIMA & ICAS opposed to ACA.
The Culture
Great social scene. Interns were very friendly and we went out with the graduates as well. People are always up for socialising and I think this was one of the best parts of the internship.
Living in London will always be the experience but the main reason for working there is the experience and to become accustomed to the life. Going out was always expensive but this doesn't take away from the fantastic vibe.
Really good. Lots of bars and clubs. Well connected as the location was in Central London.
Not as many opportunities as I would have liked. I would have been interested in participating in any form of sport. They did organsie a Sports day for us which was fun but I believe more could have been done.
