    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found the job to be very interesting. The work was good and the people I have worked with are first class. The activities surrounding the main work were also very good, I attended the annual conference and became involved in many other aspects of the company.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The staff were friendly and approachable. The mangers did not 'over manage' and I was left to do my own work and have meeting with them when I felt they were appropriate.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support was good. There was plenty of training opportunities and chances to get involved in networking events.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was left to manage my work time. It was my responsibility to ensure the daily work balance was correct.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The level of responsibility was correct for a summer placement student.

  • During my time at ARM I learnt or improved on many technical skills, all of which will be of use during studies and in work.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office contained me and three other interns, the atmosphere was relaxed but also had a good work ethic.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything from accommodation to technical training to social events seemed well planned and thought out.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company has a good training policy. There is a detailed induction day and regular, less formal 'lunch and learn' or 'doughnut session' training events.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cambridge accommodation is not cheap, roughly comparable to London prices. However the cost of socialising is less.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night-life in Cambridge is good, many pubs for a quiet drink but if you want clubs Cambridge is probably not the best choice.
