The Role
Brilliant company to work for: great company culture; working environment; good level of responsibility and autonomy.
Part of the team from the beginning, given good level of responsibilty and opinions were valued by others.
Some times I was busier than other times, generally it balanced out over time. Never felt under pressure to stay longer hours, it was my own choice if I did.
The right amount for that time. It was a year in which I developed lots of skills which I built on after I graduated. I was stretched throughout the year, but not in things over my head.
I have already graduated, but looking back to my final year I was more motivated in my work, but at the same time I felt very ready to finish my studies. A placement year definitely equips you well for a graduate role.
The Company
Good fun and supportive. Great company culture!
Provided with some generic training as well as on-the-job as needed. 3M has a long history of bringing in placements, developing them and bringing them back as grads.

I returned as a graduate in 2005!
The Culture
There were a good number of other placement students in the company. We shared houses and regularly socialised together. It definitely added to the experience.
Not the cheapest area to live in, but the salary covered it.
Reading is not far away for clubs and bars. Wokingham was good for pubs.
If you're into sport there are all sorts of clubs to join at 3M
