    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Inevitably at times the work given was a little repetetive but effort was made by all to ensure I experienced as wide a range of different tasks as possible.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody was very welcoming from the outset and now the placement's over there are many people with whom I am determined to keep in touch. Throughout the placement my colleagues made it clear when they felt that I was being a particular asset to the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were regular feedback sessions with people at different levels in the company which made it clear how I could improve at each stage of the process and perform better on my next job.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was never too busy but my team leaders always made an effort to ensure that I had something to do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was quickly trusted to liaise with clients on my own, and on one occasion even went to the client site alone for the morning.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely useful since when I start on the graduate scheme next September I will have more idea of what to expect and will be able to continue my 'on the job' learning where I left off.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although industrious, people were talkative and there was a pleasant atmosphere at all times. However it was quite quiet as the majority of people at any one time are out at a client site!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There seemed to be a difference in expectation between what graduate recruitment thought would happen over the 8 week placement and what was practicable, but this did not cause any problems.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We learnt on the job so that effectively we were being trained at the same time as working, meaning that the learning took place in a very dynamic environment. I was also given the opportunity to attend a CSR day in London with other vacation students and a two-day induction course in Southampton.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Looking forward to going back in September 2013!

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As per, everyone was very friendly and it was great to meet vacation students from other offices all over the country.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I stayed in my student house, so no more expensive than uni.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in Cardiff is great, although this had little impact on my placement!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was a 5-a-side football team and people went out for drinks after work on a fairly regular basis; I wouldn't really have expected much more than this from an 8 week placement.

    4/5
