The Role
Much more relaxed workplace environment than i'd ever experienced before which really enhanced the work I was given.
Welcomed into the team, but left in no doubt of my place as a junior!
I was definitely very lucky in this regard to be sitting on the desk next to my line manager who was constantly available for questions and guidance.
If I were to work reasonably from 8-5 every day then I would almost always be fine. Only near the end, with a few group presentations coming up did I stay 'late', and even then that would only be 8/8:30
Entrusted to make external calls to market makers and exchanges.
Whilst my education was relatively product specific, there were a number of skills that I developed immeasurably through daily spreadsheet work, numerous presentations to full boardrooms and regular after-hours networking.
The Company
My team in particular was great fun. A really good group of guys who were happy to work intensely for periods, divided up by periods chat and throwing balls round etc.
HR were involved at almost all stages with regular educational talks and organised intern teamwork and networkjing events.
Very well paid, complete investment in my education of the industry, firm culture and product aswell as many, many talks with some of the most senior people in the firm, giving all interns real access to the firm's management.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare from home
Healthcare/Dental
Not yet informed whether I willr eceive an offer but they have stated at every stage of the process that they have enough places to take every one of the interns, so I would assume that compared to other firms in the industry, the prospects here are very good.
The Culture
Very much driven by organised HR events every couple of weeks and self-organised intern events every friday. Met some good people.
Good socialising, but expensive.
