The Role
A great environment and culture to start a career, with a strong emphasis on work/life balance.
Feedback was always positive with constructive criticism given where it was genuinely due.
Everyone in BlackRock is approachable 247, ready to answer all questions or re-direct to the appropriate person.
Mostly kept busy with project work and some BAU but quieter periods aren't unsual during the July/August market cycle.
With every week came more responsibility; by the end I was dealing with clients on e-mail over the phone which was a great opportunity for me, and a show of trust by my manager. Presenting to management on projects also added responsibility value.
The communication and technical skills gained will benefit me in any future role, hopefully one back at BlackRock.
The Company
Always a relaxed and enthusiastic environment - great cohesion between all the teams.
Seamless process involved teamwork exercises and regular events to encourage networking.
First 2 weeks were jam-packed with training sessions and intro modules which helped to meet valuable people and contribute to the desk.
Company Parties/Events
Hoping the headcount is there!
The Culture
Interns got on very well and added to official events by organising informal events almost weekly.
Bargains are hard to come by in the City, but it's not impossible to get by if you're smart about it.
Good choice of venues and this part of central London is well connected.
BlackRock encourages sports and charity work, offering 2 days out a year to help out a charity, and doubles any sponsorship raised.
