The Role
Enjoyable placement using skills specific to my field and speciality.
I felt valued and respected by colleagues
Aims and desires were clear, as were previous results and future aims.
I was sometimes bored and sometimes very busy. This depended on my level of expertise on the task in hand.
I was given responsibility and the opportunity to solve problems in the way I saw fit. However, I was also given guidance when necessary in order to help me with problems and bring me back on track on occasions.
I will use some of the skills gleaned next year, and will probably use them beyond as well.
The Company
People were friendly and approachable. My mentor was always very happy to help me, and extremely patient at all times.
Very well organised, although I did have my initial interview date changed. Also, whether we were accepted or rejected at any stage, we were kept updated, which is a clear positive in relation to other intern opportunities.
Made sure I had time to understand and appreciate the task in hand.
Very appealing, apart from the inevitable dry desk work and the location, which isn't so appealing for me due to where I'm at University. If I was based even remotely more locally I would definitely consider a job here. Even though I am not, I am still considering it.
The Culture
We got along very well and each created and adapted within a great social environment, which included living with most other placements, getting lifts to work with each other and generally socialising.
Bristol is not famed for its value for money, so the salary doesn't stretch as far as you would hope, especially when you're paying for summer rent at University as well!
Though value for money wasn't great, we lived in Bristol city centre. Accessibility was great, and there's something for all tastes.
There were a few things mentioned to us, but we tended to have fun on our own as much as we could
