The Role
Very much a well planned and highly enjoyable experience. I learned an immense amount and that's part of the perks of working at the world's largest investment manager.
Very close and unique relationship in the financial services industry. Not only is it buy side and as a result more relaxed than the shark-tanks and back-stabbing IBs, but there is a culture unique to BlackRock. They value approchability very highly and you can walk up to an MD, who more often than not is on the same desk as you, and he'll take you out for a coffee and take time out of his day for you if you need anything.
Constant mentoring and guidance with a strong focus on buddy and mentoring programs.
I was looking for an intense and challenging working environment which is exactly what I found.
Lots of responsbility to set your own schedule and so on. Focus is on delivering results at the end. BlackRock is very much a meritocracy and not at all driven by politics.
Lots of training and learning on the job. I know now that I learned nothing at university - there's nothing quite like BlackRock's training programs to get you up to speed.
The Company
Very close group of interns and very open group of Analysts and up.
Seamlessly run show by HR.
No holds barred, no expenses off the table to make sure you get a proper learning experience since the focus is on delivering job offers by the end.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Would rather not jinx it! Will wait and see.
The Culture
Excellent group of interns.
With this salary, restaurants and socialising are cheap as chips.
Brilliant.
It's London. Period.
