The Role
A lot of the work has been very interesting and it has allowed me to extend my knowledge of the work that engineering contractors are invovled in
Colleagues were always happy to help and answer any questions/queries that I may of had
Line manager was always informative and allowed me to get on with the work he had given me and use my initiative to complete the given work
Work varied over the summr. However planned work over the summer wasnt able to take place due to a delay from other companies in supply the required information
Given responsilbility to complete important work that my line manager would be using and the company would benefit from
Helped me understand what the engineering contractor do within the construction and wider engineering world
The Company
General atmosphere was good, people were always chatting and appraochable although sometime due to high amounts of work everyone was busy
Placement was good and organised once it began. Before the placement, only found out location 10 days before the start therefore it was hard to find somewhere to live
Always wanting me to find out information about getting chartered in the future (Becoming a member, attending lectures and visiting the headquarters, back dating work)
Financial Bonus
Sponsership is the first benefit of the summer placement (if your good enough over the summer) and then a graduate interview in November. Interview is before the standard interviews therefore better chance of getting the job
The Culture
Colleagues were interested in similar sports to myself therefore always something to talk about. Although colleagues were a lot older there socialising wasn't an option. Other summer placement students were always willing to socialise however
The change from living in the South from the North could be noticed. However the pro-rata wage that is given is good and covers anything you want to buy. Also the company gives you an accomadation allowance if living away from home therefore this makes it easier
Didnt go on the nightlife in the immediate area therefore I have rated it in the middle. However I London is not to far away and easy to get to and this is a good area
Nothing to report out of work to get involved with
