The Role
My time at Linklaters has been really enjoyable. There's been a lot of group activities and socials that means the other interns really have a chance to get to know each other when we're not sitting in our seats.
Linklaters thrives on a collegiate feel and friendly atmosphere which I instantly felt as soon as I stepped foot in my first department. The other associates who came from rival universities were already having a joke with me as soon as I sat down.
Both of my supervisors always take the time out of their day to discuss the tasks they have set and the work I have done generally despite being so busy themselves.
I was busy most of the time with work but it was fine because when I had capacity I put my time towards our individual project.
The kind of tasks we were doing were trainee level tasks and at some points, strict deadlines had to be met. They really entrusted some of the vacation schemers and saw them as genuinely able to help.
The skills I developed here will definitely assist me in the field of law no doubt. We were learning about the law firm as a business and generally how to conduct ourselves in front of clients with negotiation and pitch exercises.
The Company
The atmosphere was great, one of my supervisors has party poppers hidden under his desk and lets one off when trainees come in!
The organisation was spot on. We had email alerts prior to all our engagements and we knew exactly what was coming on in the week with our iternary which was given to us on the first day.
They treated us in client dining rooms and meeting rooms and really let us take advantage of their amenities as well as their time. They really felt at a grassroots level investment must be made into training their own.

Over 80% of interns get offers from Linklaters, they treat the vacation scheme as a two way process and come across really well with the impression they made.
The Culture
The socials were fantastic. Linklaters organised a cocktail making event and we all went out together after. The boys also arranged to play football twice in a local five-a-side pitch.
Pretty expensive, right next to the new Heron apartments. But that's expected of Central London!
Close to Liverpool Street station there's a lot more and further down from there is Shoreditch which has a great nightlife. There's not too much right in the middle of the city but everything's a stones throw away.
Definitely, as I mentioned, the guys all came together to play football at a local pitch. We could also get involved with all the sports teams that Linklaters themselves run.
