The Role
Very well structured and well thought out.
Everyone was very friendly. The extent to which I felt part of the team depended on which department I was sitting in at the time.
Both supervisors always very willing to discuss things and provide feedback - I felt able to ask (fairly) stupid questions!
I probably could have been given more to do, and certainly never felt like I was working at anywhere near maximum capacity. This was not a big problem but I was occasionally left with little to do.
The work I was given was (almost) always on a current matter, but usually at a very low level. I was given considerably more responsibility at another firm. Having said that, everyone makes a real effort to make sure you understand how what you are doing fits into the bigger picture.
Lots of experience of how law is applied in practice - which is always going to be useful to understand.
The Company
Focused but very friendly and welcoming. People tend to chat a fair bit in their offices, so it isn't just work work work.
The scheme was run very well - impressive considering it involved a trip to Paris!
We were taken for a tour of Kaplan Law School, and we had various talks on what people from the different departments do on a day-to-day basis - but I wouldn't really expect much training on a law vacation scheme!
Subsidised Canteen
International Travel
Company Parties/Events
Very hard to know! - the recession can't be helping.
The Culture
Never has the term 'party animals' been more appropriate.
About average for London.
Seems pretty reasonable - lots of bars nearby.
Graduate Recruitment organised quite a few social events.
