The Role
Working for Deloitte was a pleasure and the 7 weeks went really fast. The work was interesting and I learnt a lot.
As an intern you can't expect too much responsibility but the work I did contributed to the client directly.
During the placement we were paired up with a "buddy" - a graduate employee who was there to answer any questions. If they weren't around on a job, everyone in the team was willing to help out and answer my questions.
There was always work to be done and I was never sat around with nothing to do which was great.
I was writing letters to clients, speaking face to face with clients and contributing to an audit.
I improved research skills, teamworking, IT skills and communication which are all relevant to university and I value these skills going into 3rd year.
The Company
This depended on how much work there was, the date of the deadline and the job at hand. Generally, the atmosphere was quiet, productive but friendly.
I was emailed well in advance of each job/client by someone in the team who sent me the information I needed. We spent half a week in a hotel team building with other SVS students which was good.
I learnt a lot from the experience and I'm hoping to start as a graduate in 2013.
Overall a great place to work, and I will be joining if I get an offer.
The Culture
Over the 6 weeks of the scheme, I went to 4 social events.
I was in Liverpool where it's very cheap to live.
I go to university in Liverpool also, so already knew about the nightlife beforehand.
There were opportunities to join activities such as 5 a side football.
