The Role
Being the first internship I had, it was a very good experience. Of course, there were times when work didn't allow me to enjoy London to its fullest, but on the other hand the experience was a complete one
The Team was united and ready to support interns. Would have appreciated more time spent together outside the job
Supervisors were really helpful and ready to provide guidance. Again, a rapport would have been even closer if more time were dedicated outside work hours
The nature of the work implies long hours, so this comes as a no surprise. Personal feeling is, however, that depending on the team the variance in hours worked is enormous
Although I worked on interesting transactions and received good exposure, I feel I could have been given much more responsibility
Skills are useful for a career afterwards. From an academic point of view, I wouldn't say they are extremely useful as this is practice, whereas academia is more focused on theory
The Company
I personally believe the lack of time spent outside working hours kept the rapports a little bit too formal.
Organisation was fairly good, with events organised outside the job and opportunities to network
The company seemed to have invested in their interns as time of supervisors and colleagues is very valuable
Subsidised Canteen
Usually offers are made the last day.
The Culture
Yes, fellow interns were extremely fun to work with and the time spent together was great
London is a very expensive city
Investment Bankers don't have a nightlife. Working 100 hours a week doesn't allow you to go out on nights
Again, time was extremely valuable as it was almost inexistent. Outside opportunities might have been numerous
