The Role
The work placement is really well structured with plenty of opportunity to get involved in real work and also a variety of lectures and talks to help you get the most out of the experience.
In general, the firm is an extremely friendly place. Some people can seem very busy though.
The supervisors and trainee buddies really put a lot of effort in to making the vacation scheme an enjoyable learning experience.
There were plenty of tasks available if you asked people if they needed help. The trainee buddies were also good at giving you things to read through during quieter periods.
This was varied from department to department. In one department I felt I was being treated almost like a real trainee and the other department I was in I had less responsibility.
I think the vacation scheme is an excellent way to develop professional skills to set you up for life.
The Company
The working environment is really fantastic and there is a supportive atmoshphere in the office.
Very well organised timetable. The lectures and talks didn't interrupt the working day too much and this helped me get more experience of real work.
The firm definitely wanted us to get as much out of the scheme as possible and you could see they invested a lot in to it. For example, the Managing Partner gave up his time to come and speak to us and take our questions.
