The Role
Management had relatively little technical knowledge of my specific role so it was hard for them to provide meaningful support/guidance.
I felt that my team were understaffed for parts of my placement
Did not receive much useful training or gain any extra qualifications from my placement. Role was too technical for helping me with my degree and what I would like to do in the future.
The Company
The company provides a formal review of development and targets twice during the year but I did not find these very helpful
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
I do not think the company would be a great place for someone looking for a technical IT job. Many of the technical jobs at Eli Lilly were being outsourced while I was working there.
The Culture
There are around 20-30 placement students doing IT and management roles at Eli Lilly in Basingstoke and the social scene was excellent.
Basingstoke is not great for nightlife. Reading is quite near and has good nightlife though not excellent.
There were many social events organised by placement students at Eli Lilly but few organised by the company.
