The Role
I can't encourage anyone enough to do a placement over the summer at L'Oreal. The people are wonderful, the training is second to none and you will love it.
I was never treated as an intern, I was treated just like the other employees and the grads. They were so appreciative of my work and encouraged me to get involved with as many projects as I wanted. Not only in the work place but also socially, I have met some friends for life here.
My managers were very supportive and encouraging. I had weekly catch ups and constant meetings to document the progress of my work. The support of HR was also great to get us to meet other interns and grads. They arranged a charity day, a picnic and lunchtime seesions to learn about different peoples roles in the company.
No day was ever boring! I was given projects to complete over a longer time frame, as well as daily admin and assistance of the marketing teams. I had two managers which encourgaed me to manage my time effectively to split my time between brands.
While still under the supervision of my managers, I was given my own projects to work on and given more responsibility than I would have ever expected.
The exposure I have got to marketing has been great. Not only this but L'Oreal are keen for you to understand how other functions (Digital, PR, commercial, Supply chain to name a few!) fit together with marketing. It made me look at things from multiple angles to fully understand how we must incorporate all the functions to produce sucessful marketing campaigns.
The Company
A lot of fun while maintaining a professional atmosphere. Lots of post work social time too.
The new HR intern co-ordinator worked really hard to ensure our placement was well structured and we got the most out of our experience.
The company has encouraged my development and provided me with lots of training. My managers in particular always had the time to discuss my projects and help further my work with plenty of suggestions.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
I will be returning and I cant wait!
The Culture
The social side of work was great. Lots of organised and spontanous outings with my team, interns and the grads.
The subsidised canteen was great, coffee is very cheap! London in general is expensive but L'Oreal helped out as much as they could in the office.
Plenty of pubs and bars.
Always encouraged us to get stuck in and sent emails round with new opportunities such as sports teams and charity work.
