The Role
Good fun, enjoyed the variety of day to day tasks and the relevance to my knowledge and skillset.
All colleagues were extremely helpful and friendly, and always willing to offer advice and help when asked. This has made the placement much more enjoyable.
Manager regularly available but I was given an interim manager who was always available - this was much
Lots of variety which meant things were never boring; lots of people available for help if I got stuck; deadlines appropriate which meant I wasn't too busy but still had enough to do
Project was run by myself and another intern, we were in charge of the development and the managers offered advice but left the day-to-day responsibility to us.
As the project was well matched to my skillset the skills were honed rather than created, but it gave me an opportunity to see how I could use my skills in an industrial/commercial setting, which was beneficial
The Company
Friendly and relaxed
Due to the nature of the project being run by ourselves, the project organisation was not very big, but in general things were well organised.
Investment was good, there was no "you're only here for 10 weeks so we won't bother" attitude; more so that I was treated as a full-time employee.
Quite likely that will be offered a job - the way they recruit means that if you got an internship they would have hired you as a graduate anyway; the fact that you have an extra 10 weeks experience puts you in a better position than graduates who have not worked in the company.
The Culture
Socialising with the recent graduates was good and there were a couple of office social events
Coventry isn't the nicest place in the world so rent was relatively good; the graduates lived in Leamington Spa which isn't cheap!
Due to me living in Coventry and the graduates living in Leamington, nightlife was limited, but it was not important to me anyway.
Probably, but I wasn't that interested in the social side of things outside of the office; I don't consider it relevant to the placement.
