    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Gave a good picture of the business and I learnt a huge amount about engines.

  • Very friendly and helpful although sometimes felt like the placement was more for my benefit than to contribute to their work.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Very good induction and regular progress reviews to check up on what I was doing.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Variable work load. There were times when I didn't have much to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Some of the documents I produced were essential to the build but my main project was an opinion based task that may be used in the future.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluble business awareness and made me really think about what I might like to do in the future. Large amount of engine knowledge gained and interests developed.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Mostly chatty and friendly people. I felt quite young though!

  • Very good induction process. Lots of other interns to share experience with and good review and follow up process.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company definitely see you as a future investment and are keen to enable you to come back as a graduate. Encourage personal assessment and personal goals.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Seems to be quite easy to come back as a graduate and, although I want to look around other companies, coming back is an appealing prospect.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Lots of other interns. Very sociable!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Bristol is reasonably expensive but as a student I already had accomodation in place.

  • Highly recommended!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is an intern/graduate/apprentice association with some great sounding events but I didn't get involved. Helped out at a community event handing out freebies to children!
