The Role
I enjopy the job very much so, it is such a good working environment and a job role that is suited to my talents
They did not treat me like the 'student' i was part of the team the same as anyone else. Its a great experience.
The manager assured me that anything i wanted to do throughout the year to make the experience better for me then he would make it happen. Very supportive.
This is hard as the end of the month is extremely busy with all accounting activity however mid month things are a bit quieter, however i would never say that i was bored as i just asked for work and got on with it.
After my period of training i was left to it, if i had to ask anyone any questions they were more than happy to help. I was treated like any other employee and was able to get on with my job.
Very much so as i will be taking finance further into my final year and having had first hand practical experience to go along with the theory will help a lot. Also my communication skills are improved with presentations and things that i will be giving.
The Company
It was not at all what i expected, the atmosphere was fun and friendly. It was such a good working environment everyone got along and just had a good time while they were working.
Very well organised, i think as a result of doing the scheme for so long they know exactly how it should work what kind of training/induction sessions you need. Also the fact they give you a persopnal manager as well as a task manager gives you a lot of support and help.
There is so much learning you can do within the company, it is all on an online database and you can do a course in pretty much anything, the opportunities are endless.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Very appealing, only drawback is the graduate scheme tends to be all South of the border.
The Culture
Yes, we are quite different however mixed well.
I still live at home with my parents. The train fare was quite expensive however got an IBM discount. Also the socialising wasn't too expensive, we just had good fun and a lot of work events where on the company.
No nightlife where the actual site is however a short train ride takes you into Glasgow city centre where it is FAB!
There is a thing called giveback, where you put back into the community things like going to schools and university fairs and all sorts of opportunities like that so it is really good.
