The Role
It was a really good job to have. The number of other interns and my friendly team made it a really fun place to work.
My team were always grateful for any task I did and I was given jobs that I felt really helped the cause. I never had to photocopy and rarely did any menial tasks.
They were very understanding if I needed something to be explained and they were always there if I needed to ask a question. There are also CV days which are really beneficial and my intern manager helped me to get a few days in a different department.
I was always fairly busy, although my team were really conscious of not overloading me. There was always something to do.
I was given a number of responsibilities, such as heading up an intern project. I also put myself forward for a number of intern run positions of responsibility. However, I would have liked a little bit more responsibility from day-to-day.
I think that this internship has given me of skills that university and school never could, for example, dealing with deadlines in an office environment, researching, handling difficult clients etc. Although I had examples of these areas before, that was in a university environment, and these are so much different in an office.
The Company
Although people did work hard there was always cake on the table and everyone would sing if it was someones birthday etc.
It was well organised, however I know that this differed from department to department.
There were one-to-ones with our intern managers every fortnight at least and there were CV days etc.

Working from home
I know that a number of interns have gone on to get jobs, however it is a really popular place to work and there are a large number of interns.
The Culture
It was mainly self-created by the interns, however we were encouraged by the person in charge of the internship to meet for drinks and to create a Facebook group to make it easier for us to meet.
I had to travel in from home and Cancer Research UK did not cover the cost of all of my travel, however it was fairly easy to get lunch within the £4 that we were allocated and the pubs are not outrageous.
Really nice selection of pubs bars and restaurants, however there aren't very many clubs.
Loads of intern opportunities, for example bake sales, a big fundraising day etc, and loads of chances for volunteering/raising money. I got involved with new advertising photoshoots for the charity which was really fun.
