The Role
Placement was interesting, a lot to learn throughout the business. However I feel that in comparison to other intern experiences I had to do alot more comparitively to be noticed in my area due to funding issues.
Fantastic group of people I worked with, however there was a definite dynamic change when the boss was here and when boss was on holidays.
Lot of support from my mentor, however line manager did not see me as often. Difficult to see what I had done which was odd as they were making the final decision.
Overall I had a good balance but too much emphasis on what I had done in my project as opposed to the large amount of work done within the team.
I was impressed with the amount of responsibility I was given. I was able to talk and meet with very senior people.
Good skillset learnt though the timing of certain skill workshops was slightly odd...e.g. Advanced Excel six weeks in.
The Company
Great atmosphere. The people really made the internship
Generally well organised, though I thought the speed networking allocation meeting was not very successful.
Definitely invested alot of time and effort into the internship experience by many talks with divisional heads, CSR events and social events.
The requirements for me to get an internship in my area are much harder than other areas due to funding. There was NO full disclosure when we were placed to which desks were hiring and which one's weren't.
The Culture
Good social scene.
I was lucky to already rent in London.
Good nightlife.
Many opportunities to get into charity fundrasiers and pubcrawls etc.
