The Role
Some of the work wasn't as interesting as I would have liked but the social side was great and my colleagues were very nice.
Everyone was very welcoming and friendly
I had a buddy who would help me out when I wasn't sure how to do something or would find me work if I had nothing to do. My manager was happy to give me help whenever I felt I needed it.
Some tasks I carried out were very boring and other times I had nothing to do.
I was treated like an equal member of the team but the work I did wasn't particularly important.
We were given 2 days training on "developing business impact" which really improved my presentation skills and we were encouraged to network a lot. This will be useful for any presentations next year and for general confidence in a business environment.
The Company
Everyone worked hard but there was plenty of chat and banter throughout the day. There were always people up for doing things after work. The office was very open and everyone was very welcoming, it was no problem to approach a manager or partner.
We were given a timetable of the 6 weeks on the first day, social events were already organised, everyone had 2 days at the Grant Thornton training centre in High Wycombe, there were "lunch and learn" events so we could find out about other departments and all our final interviews were scheduled so we knew exactly what to expect.
We were given training on presentation skills and learnt about different departments. I gained a lot, both personally and professionally from the internship.

Company Parties/Events
I've been offered a graduate job from September 2013 which I have accepted.
The Culture
All the interns were very friendly and there were many events arranged for us to all get to know each other so there was a lot of socialising.
I was in London so it was pretty expensive but there were so many company events that we didn't have to arrange our own nights out very often!
There's a bar down the road that has happy hour from 5-9 and general London nightlife is great.
There were many social events, football events and we had a corporate responsibility day where we renovated a primary school playground.
