The Role
Was a fantastic experience, given so much exposure to all aspects of the business. Gave me a real insight into the financial industry as a whole.
Will keep in touch with many of the collegues I worked with, everyone here is so friendly and welcoming.
The 'Buddy' Scheme aided greatly so there was always someone there for support and/or guidance on projects and work.
I was kept busy the majority of the time, but as expected there were periods of lull in the Departments I was working in. When I was busy with projects and presentations it was really enjoyable.
Felt as though I was contributing to presentations and resports made by senior management, made me feel as though I made a difference - value added.
Learnt skills I would never have been able to learn at University, these skills will stay with me as I was using them for 11 weeks.
The Company
Great atmosphere and a sense of teamwork in the office. Especially so when the Olympics were going on.
Very organised, everything ran smoothly. Would have liked a little more time to prepare for the internship in terms of the online modules and book we were given to do/read. (My University term finished very late due to exams)
We received one-week's training by an external teacher specific to the firm which was very valuable as well as a day in the Bloomberg offices.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Would love to have the opportunity to come back.
The Culture
Bonding events/an offsite at the beginning of the internship would have been useful because many of us did not really know each other properly until the last few weeks of the internship.
I lived at home and the cost of lunch was reduced with the subsidised canteen. However, commuting was expensive!
It was average, did not make full use of it until towards the end of the internship many of us did not know the area very well.
Not many social/sporting events outside the office which would have been valuable to get to know other members of staff.
