The Role
I would definately apply for the graduate scheme
There were some political situations, but I made some solid friends and got to know them well. The people were fantastic (mostly!)
The guidance was great, I can't thank my colleagues enough
There were some dull days, and some extremely busy days. Some days I got bored, but some days I was very busy and stayed back very late. The job was varied in this respect
I managed projects, and was given responsibility of logistics, hiring contractors and budgets
The skills I gained will help me forever, no doubt. People skills in particular. People-management cannot be underestimated!
The Company
The office was quite, but we had a few laughs and my mentor answered all my questions
Some elements were badly organised. Best example of this was the training. There was no formal training at all.
I was never put on any training courses at all. I did visist another site on rare occasions if that is considered as an investment in my development.
There are no jobs offered at the end of the placement, but the experience will apparently help with future applications
The Culture
I was the only year placement student onsite
Cost of living was quite high, but I had a flat and there are other options depending on where you are based
One club in Stowmarket. Didn't appeal to me anyway but there are nice places to eat
Not really, I played squash with colleagues but it was just us organising games every so often
