The Role
It was a fantastic experience. I am so glad that I took the initiative to apply for an internship in my second year as this was a great learning experience and confidence builder and has given me a step onto career path that I wish to follow as I was offered a graduate position for next year.
Was a lovely team atmosphere, got on with everyobody, I felt really welcomed.
Everybody was willing to give advice and help with any queries that I may have.
Given sections of theaudit to finish, colleagues were shocked at how efficient I was at completing these so I was able to carry out a wide range of activities.
I was shocked at how much responsibility I was given. I thought that I would be shadowing somebody doing the work, but I was given important bits of the audit to complete which helped greatly with my learning experience.
It has given me a greater level of confidence going into my third year of uni and helped give me a basis to build on as a first year trainee.
The Company
I great team atmosphere and everybody as very welcoming with a great balance between work and social activities.
It was very well orgainised. I was given a timetable on my first day to outline where I would be each day whichb included alot of travelling to client sites, so I was able to plan my journey. I was also given enough work to keep me busy so I was never bored, and as a result got to experience many different aspects of the job.
I was sent to Bradenham Manor, Grant Thornton's training facility for a business impact course which was very helpful when it came to presenting to managers at the end of my placement. All travel was paid for and I was able to expereince an away job and many different client sites across the country.
National Travel
I have been offered a job beginning this time next year!!
The Culture
Was assigned a buddy who was a first year trainee which gave me a great opportunity to find out more about the firm. I was also able to meet other interns from across the country at Bradenham and during our corporate responsibility day.
Based in the Cardiff office close to home and any travel to clienst was paid for by the firm.
I attend Cardiff University and live close so it was not a new area for me, but Cardiff is a great city for shoping, clubs and restaurants.
I have been selected to be the Cardiff University campus ambassador for Grant Thornton which I can't wait to start next month.
