The Role
I was given a variety of different tasks to work on and was always given clear guidance and support with my work.
I felt my manager valued my presence and was keen to use me as a resource as much as possible.
Even though my manager was regularly out of the office, I was frequently phoned and emailed to check that I was progressing with my work.
I was not as busy as I have been in other internships as most of my work was not of an urgent nature but consisted of larger, ongoing projects.
On the tasks that I was working on, I was given a large amount of responsibility and was largely left to my own devices to complete various projects.
The work I have completed here will be invaluable for my future career.
The Company
Regular trips to the pub after work help to create a friendly atmosphere. Colleagues are always happy to have a chat in the tea room which helps to make the workplace feel friendly.
There were no organisational problems. Everything was set up for me the day I arrived.
I had regular meetings with the department to check on my progress.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Metaswitch are recruiting a good number of University graduates into the company.
The Culture
There were regular after work trips to the pub, funded by Metaswitch. There is also a sociable atmosphere in the company houses.
The canteen is very reasonably priced as are other food outlets in Enfield town. There are also a number of reasonably priced pubs for the evenings.
There are several pubs but the clubbing scene is somewhat non-existent. There is however a train station which runs regular trains into London which has a large and varied night life!
There are a large number of sports groups. During my placement I ran on the Metaswitch team for a charity fun run.
