  • Long hours, but to be honest this just meant i was busy, and after all you get out what you put in right??

  • I was responsible for 20 universities, and i was given a budget. You can't be given more responsibility than that

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • People Skills, Communication Skills, and a deep knowledge in technology.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I work in a very young environment, where people frequently go out, and there is real drive. We went paintballing, Go Carting, Numerious nights out and much more.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • IBM have got a new dedicated team which was trialed this year, i was one of the lucky ones who was involved with this, it basically meant that we were given targets, development plans, as well a monthly meeting to discuss how i can improve and what i would like to do.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have been on 6 formal courses, and we had at least a day out a month as a team for training. Plus the one to one stuff.

  • I would love to go back, and providing i get the results i will!!

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are about 400 students on placement as well as about 300 grads, thus there is a fantastic social life, and we were out twice, three times a week, and as any placement student will tell you.. That's a lot of night out when you have to be in work for 9am.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Living in portsmouth cost me about £300 a month with rent/bills etc, then about £100 on food.. That was without trying... There is an outlet shopping centre, so clothes are cheap, and its a great lively city.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Loads of Clubs, As we are students we still qualify for Students nights, Portsmouth union, and much more!!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, People set up five aside football, Cricket matchs, House Parties, drink, meals and much more.
